AZ Man Claims Second Hand Exposure
Thursday, April 23rd, 2009
An Arizona man who is currently living with mesothelioma recently filed a suit against 59 defendants claiming they are to blame for his disease.
The man believes that due to second hand exposure from his grandfather’s clothing he was unknowingly exposed to asbestos.
He also says that he was wrongfully exposed to asbestos throughout his career doing home and automotive repairs.
Lawsuit Allegations
Jesus Manriquez claims that during his employment he worked with and around products that contained asbestos.
“Dust created by working with and around asbestos and asbestos-containing products would permeate the person and clothing of the plaintiff and plaintiff’s grandfather,” states the suit. “This dust contained asbestos fiber.”
Manriquez says his grandfather would carry the asbestos dust home on his clothing and it would then become airborne.
The plaintiff was employed at various locations throughout Arizona and Illinois through the duration of his career.
Seeking Compensation for Mesothelioma
Manriquez says that as a result of his exposure, he developed the fatal cancer known as mesothelioma, which is caused by asbestos exposure.
He is seeking $350,000 in damages for negligence, conspiracy and the cost of his treatment.
